Myofunctional therapy is used to correct the function of the tongue and facial muscles used at rest and during swallowing.
At Myofunctional Therapy of La Jolla, we help YOU! Poor oral habits at an early age can reshape the palate and impact foundational structures of the mouth and face that can carry on into adulthood. These habits can cause a high palate, early loss of baby teeth, abnormal swallowing patterns, improper tongue positions, and speech problems. It is critical to eliminate these habits before attempting orthodontics.
Myofunctional Therapy of La Jolla can also provide the techniques and skills to break thumb-sucking or nail-biting habits.
As a practicing dental hygienist for over 20 years, working in thousands of mouths, I saw the need to address orthodontic relapse, tongue thrust, and mouth breathing in children and adults. This led me to additional post-graduate training in orofacial myofunctional therapy. In 2016, I established my Myofunctional Therapy of La Jolla practice. My practice is dedicated to helping children and adults with their oral function, so they can breathe better, sleep better and live better.
If you think you or any family member are in need of myofunctional therapy, I offer a complimentary conversation by phone to see if this therapy is right for you. I look forward to helping you soon.
